WHAT IS A ‘DOULA’?

‘Doula’ is a Greek word that means “Female servant for the child-bearing woman.”

Nowadays, the word has come to mean “One who mothers the mother.”

Doulas are non-medical / non-clinical birth workers. As a doula, my role is purely supportive. My aim is to hold space for you and your concerns, listen without interruption or judgment, validate your feelings and sign post to information and organisations that might be able to help.
